FRIENDSWOOD — A gas leak at a Friendswood intersection slowed traffic for several hours Thursday afternoon, police said.

A construction crew working in the area struck a gas line near FM 518 and West Parkwood Avenue at about noon, according to a news release from the Friendswood Police Department.

Air conditioning units at a nearby strip center were shut off, and people in the center were asked to shelter in place while the gas line was repaired, police said.
