KEMAH — Several fire departments responded to a large grass fire near the Kemah Oaks subdivision Thursday night. No houses were threatened by the blaze, and the fire was mostly contained, Kemah police Chief Greg Rikard said.

The fire was in the 57-acre park behind the subdivision.

Rikard said the fire moved away from houses and did not appear to be any danger to the residences.
