TEXAS CITY — The Texas City Citizens Police Academy has 15 new members after its graduation ceremony Tuesday.

The graduates began attending courses in late February, learning about law enforcement procedures, policy and more, police said. The new members also rode along with officers and observed internal operations at the department.

Volunteers can join the Citizens on Patrol program and help officers with traffic direction at events and parades in the city.

Volunteers can pick up applications for the Citizens Police Academy at the Texas City Police Department or at the department’s website, texas-city-tx.org/police.
