SANTA FE — A Santa Fe home went up in flames Friday morning, but was extinguished by firefighters within an hour, a fire official said.

Crews responded to the house fire in the 7000 block of Avenue M shortly before 11 a.m., Assistant Chief Chris Anderson said.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries reported, Anderson said.

Flames damaged more than half of the house, and smoke damage was spread throughout the home, he said.

Santa Fe firefighters received assistance from the Hitchcock Volunteer Fire Department.

Officials are investigating what caused the fire, Anderson said.
