LEAGUE CITY — A Pearland couple has been charged in connection with the stabbing of a Santa Fe man.

Stephen Trent Smith, 29, and Kiesta Danielle Smith, 24, were arrested at their Pearland home Thursday night and each charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

Investigators suspect Kiesta Smith was involved in a romantic relationship with a Santa Fe man who told a League City police officer he had been stabbed, officer Reagan Pena said.

A League City officer patrolling the 1200 block of Enterprise Avenue late Wednesday found the man bleeding.

The Santa Fe man was treated for his injuries at Clear Lake Regional Hospital, police said.

The Smiths were booked into the Galveston County Jail and each held on a $40,000 bond.
