FRIENDSWOOD — Fire investigators were working Friday to determine what sparked a blaze at a Friendswood home.

The fire, which was reported shortly after 11:30 p.m. Thursday, caused significant damage to the back of a house in the 500 block of Castlelake Drive, fire Capt. Dan Key said.

“The call came in as a smoke detector and on arrival there was smoke coming from the house,” Key said.

Crews from Forest Bend, Pearland and League City helped Friendswood firefighters battle the heavy smoke and flames, and the fire was under control in about 30 minutes, Key said.

No one was injured.
