GALVESTON — A man was sentenced Tuesday to five years in prison for possessing methamphetamine and beating up his girlfriend. 

Justin Wayne Boss, 26, of Galveston, pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily injury/family violence and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Galveston County District Attorney's Office prosecutors dismissed an evading arrest charge as part of the plea agreement. 

Assistant District Attorney Virginia Frank prosecuted the case. Mark Diaz represented Boss in the 405th District Court, Judge Michelle Slaughter presiding.
