PORT BOLIVAR — After a six-month investigation, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in connection to a fatal hit-and-run accident in Port Bolivar.

Dennis Duane Sievers, 49, of Port Bolivar was arrested Wednesday after he was indicted by a Galveston County grand jury, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Sievers was charged with accident causing serious bodily injury or death, a third-degree felony, according to the release.

According to the sheriff’s office, Sievers was the owner of the vehicle that struck Catalina Delgado, 21, of Killeen on June 8.

Paramedics found Delgado’s body in the 1200 block of Loop 108 near Fort Travis Park.

“The damage to the front of the vehicle was consistent with the damage you would expect to find on a vehicle, after striking an individual,” according to the release.

Evidence was submitted to the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Lab for analysis. Detectives received a DNA report in November.

The profile of DNA found on the vehicles’ steering wheel led to Sievers’ indictment, according to the release.

Sievers on Wednesday was in the county jail on a bond of $50,000, according to the sheriff’s office.
