The High Island Cardinals and the Santa Fe Indians hit the gridiron again this weekend to continue their football seasons. Above, the Cardinals take the field for their battle against Logos Prep. Top right, the Santa Fe Belles cheer on the Indians, while Santa Fe offensive lineman Travis Doolittle, left, leads the team on the field. Meanwhile, 3-year-old Sam Billeadeau cheers on the Cardinals at High Island’s Nest Stadium. Alas, both teams came up a bit short. The Cardinals fell, 45-44, in a thriller, while the Indians just fell short against St. Thomas, 26-17.

Local high school football continues tonight with two games: Clear Creek takes on Deer Park and Friendswood battles Rosenberg Terry.
