PORT BOLIVAR — Authorities have identified two Houston women who were killed and left near a Dumpster in Port Bolivar.
The bodies of Britney Cosby, 24, and Crystal Jackson, 24, were fully clothed but otherwise uncovered when they were found outside the Fishermans Cove Food Mart in the 700 block of state Highway 87 at about 7:45 a.m. Friday, Sheriff Henry Trochesset said.
Autopsies were scheduled for today, but it appeared the women died from blunt trauma, Sheriff Henry Trochesset said.
A driver making a delivery to the store was taking the trash out to the Dumpster when he found the two bodies, Trochesset said.
Detectives investigating the double homicide suspect that the women were killed elsewhere before their bodies were driven to Port Bolivar and dropped off, he said.
The store is a little more than a mile away from the Galveston-Bolivar Ferry landing, and there is a “strong possibility” that the women were killed somewhere off the peninsula, Trochesset said.
There was one security camera operating near the store, and investigators are examining the tape, Trochesset said.
The sheriff’s office is requesting public assistance to help locate a vehicle owned by one of the women, a silver 2006 Kia Sorento with gray trim.
The vehicle, which the sheriff’s office said should have unknown paper tags, has been reported as stolen.
