BACLIFF — A sheriff’s deputy reported confiscating more than 12 grams of cocaine during a traffic stop Sunday evening.
The deputy stopped a car near the intersection of Avenue A and Bayshore Drive shortly before 10 p.m., Capt. Mike Benavides said in a news release.
A passenger in the vehicle was asked to step out of the car after he became belligerent toward the deputy, law officers allege. The man then consented to a search, Benavides said.
The deputy reported finding about 12.8 grams of cocaine, according to the sheriff’s office.
Dionisio Gonzales, 52, of Bacliff, was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Because of his previous criminal history, Gonzales’ bond was set at $100,000, Benavides said.
The driver of the vehicle was allowed to leave.
