HITCHCOCK – Bingo, door prizes and a dance contest are a few of the events planned today for Senior Day at the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. senior citizens 62 years and older are eligible to participate in activities for free. There will be a social hour, prize drawings, entertainment and games throughout the day.

Senior Day Chairperson Betty Gillespie said 560 seniors have registered for this year’s program.

However, seniors can attend today regardless of preregistration.

A barbecue lunch, which includes a pork sandwich and a bottle of water, will also be provided.

Beer and soda can be purchased separately.

Gillespie said she looks forward to this event every year.

“I just like to see their smiles,” she said. “I like to see the seniors have a good time.”
