LEAGUE CITY —  The city’s annual Independence Day festival will include the usual: Live music, a petting zoo and more than 4,000 hot dogs served up by council members and city staff.

It will also have a little cooking “Star” power in the form of reality TV contestant and League City resident Sarah Penrod.

The former chef for San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker and “Desperate Housewives” actress Eva Longoria and finalist in the “Food Network Star” competition will be on hand for a cooking demonstration and to sign autographs.

Penrod may even offer council members and city staff some tips to improve the hot dogs they will be serving.

The daytime festival, which, a few years ago was dubbed “Citizen Appreciation Day,” will also feature music from The Symphonic Winds of League City and rock music from The Relics.
