DICKINSON — A man arrested early Monday is accused of fleeing the scene of a collision that sent a motorcyclist to the hospital, police said.
Jose Oscar Urbina, 20, of League City, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the collision, which occurred just after midnight in a parking lot in the 4300 block of FM 517, according to a police report.
Witnesses told police Urbina was involved in a physical altercation with a man outside Ronnie’s Ice House and the Dickinson Laundromat, Sgt. Dean Boyd said.
Urbina then drove his vehicle into the man’s stationary motorcycle in the parking lot, Boyd said.
The vehicle rammed the motorcycle with the man and a woman sitting on it then dragged it 36 feet before stopping in front of Ronnie’s Ice House before driving away, according to the police report.
The 37-year-old man on the motorcycle was taken by air ambulance to the University of Texas Medical Branch, according to the police report. The 27-year-old woman on the motorcycle was taken by ground ambulance to Mainland Medical Center, police said.
Urbina remained at the Galveston County Jail on an $80,000 bond Monday.
