BACLIFF — Police still are searching for the driver who injured a father and his two young children in a hit-and-run accident Saturday evening.

Texas Department of Public Safety officials said someone driving a silver sport utility vehicle struck the three pedestrians on state Highway 146 near Miles Road around 6 p.m.

The father was pushing his two children, ages 2 and 4, on a scooter on the side of the road, according to police.

The driver hit the trio, then drove off. Witnesses told authorities the driver didn’t slow down after striking the victims.

The three victims were taken via helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.

The youngest child suffered a broken ankle and road rash; the 2-year-old suffered a broken femur, road rash and a laceration of the liver.

The father suffered head injuries and was taken into surgery Saturday night. His condition was not available Sunday.

DPS officials said witnesses did not get any information other than the color and type of vehicle.
