TEXAS CITY — One man was killed and three others were taken to the hospital after two vehicles collided on Palmer Highway in Texas City on Friday night.

Jackey W. Wooley Jr. was pronounced dead at Mainland Hospital because of injuries sustained during the collision, said Texas City Police Chief Robert Burby.

Police did not provide Wooley’s age.

The accident occurred around 9:50 p.m. on Friday near the 35000 Block of Palmer Highway, Burby said.

Burby said Joseph Bourgeois was in his vehicle traveling west on Palmer Highway when he struck Wooley. Two passengers were in the vehicle with Wooley at the time of the accident, he said.

Bourgeois suffered injuries and was taken to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, as were the two passengers in Wooley’s vehicle, he said.

Police did not provide Bourgeois’ condition or the names or condition of the two injured passengers by press time Saturday.

“This case is active and still under investigation by our major traffic investigators,” Burby said.
