It should be illegal to buy or sell any fish needing government protection.
A snapper worth $1.50 a lb to comercial fishers may be worth over $10 a lb the the sport fishing industry.

Well, IHOG, then what are we to do? I have the impression (correct me if I'm wrong, because I haven't kept close tabs on this issue) that red snapper are probably fine, given the current size of the catch -- commercial and recreational.

But I'm one of the many who both enjoy red snapper and don't have a boat, and don't wish to pay the cost of a guide. Usually I'd be on the side of recreational fishermen, but whose side should I be on now? I WANT to eat red snapper!
