BAYOU VISTA — When Municipal Utility District No. 12 officials issued a call for mandatory water restrictions on July 10, they hoped water use would decrease.

It has been the opposite, officials said

Despite the restrictions, residents of Bayou Vista and Omega Bay are actually using more water.

MUD 12 sent out a phone alert Thursday night reminding residents of the mandatory restrictions.

Under the order, outdoor watering is limited to 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Residents with even-numbered addresses are allowed to water during those hours on Sundays and Thursdays, while odd addresses are limited to Saturdays and Wednesdays.

La Marque, Galveston and Water Control Improvement District No 12 in Kemah and Clear Lakes shores also issued mandatory water restrictions.

Texas City, League City, Hitchcock and WCID No 1 in Dickinson issues voluntary water restriction measures.
