SANTA FE — A 65-year-old man wanted on charges of indecency with a child was arrested by Santa Fe police on Saturday.

James Bernardo Thornton, a Santa Fe resident, was taken into custody soon after arriving home after working off shore. He was arrested by Santa Fe police and U.S. Customs agents at the heliport where the helicopter landed that brought him from his offshore job, Santa Fe police said in a statement.

Thornton faces a felony charge of having sexual contact with a child, police said. A warrant was obtained by Santa Fe police last week. Santa Fe police did not provide information about what led to the charges.

Thornton was being held on $40,000 bond, Santa Fe police said.
