BACLIFF — Authorities on Tuesday released the name of a man found dead in a trailer home.
Erik Enrique Calvillo, 26, of San Leon, died of blunt-force trauma and stab wounds to the head during a confrontation with a woman he dated and her boyfriend, said Maj. Ray Tuttoilmondo, a spokesman for the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.
The Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Calvillo’s death was the result of a homicide, office spokesman John Florence said. Calvillo’s death was Galveston County’s first homicide reported this year.
Samantha Escobedo-Resendiz, 26, and her boyfriend German Perez-Vazquez, 31, were inside a trailer in the 3700 block of Harmony Lane in Bacliff when Calvillo arrived. A confrontation ensued sometime Sunday morning that led to Calvillo’s head injuries, Tuttoilmondo said.
Escobedo-Resendiz and Perez-Valdez went to the Kemah Police Department at 3:30 p.m. Sunday to report the incident. They were accused of trying to clean up a crime scene and charged each with one count each of tampering with physical evidence with intent to impair a human corpse. Their bonds were set at $100,000 each on the charges but denied on immigration holds placed upon them by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Tuttoilmondo said.
Authorities haven’t charged Escobedo-Resendiz and Perez-Valdez with Calvillo’s death. Investigators would present evidence to the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office, which could refer the case to a grand jury for consideration of charges, Tuttoilmondo said.
