GALVESTON — Emergency responders used the Jaws of Life to remove the driver of a car that was involved in a two-vehicle collision on Seawall Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon.
Police and fire officials said a gray Honda Accord driven by a man was struck by a white Ford SUV as the Accord attempted to pull into traffic about 4 p.m.
Witnesses at the scene said the Accord did not stop before pulling into traffic.
A woman driving the SUV and two children were able to walk away from the crash. The Galveston Fire Department spent about 20 minutes removing the driver of the Accord, whose leg was pinned inside the vehicle.
Both drivers were transported to the University of Texas Medical Branch with non life-threatening injuries. The children were unharmed.
A police official on the scene said alcohol was not believed to be a factor. Seawall Boulevard was shut down for about 45 minutes as responders dealt with the crash.
