SAN LEON – Two firefighters were briefly trapped when the roof of a burning trailer home at 315 14th Street collapsed about 9:50 a.m. Saturday.

Assistant Fire Chief Scott Lyons said crews pulled the men out unscathed. They were inspected by emergency medical personnel and Lyons said they are “doing fine.”

A woman and five children who were in the home also escaped uninjured.

Lyons said the fire was likely caused by one of the children playing with a lighter in the back of the doublewide.

The home was destroyed, Lyons said.

Texas City and Dickinson assisted the San Leon Volunteer Fire Department at the scene.
