HITCHCOCK— If you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the rodeo, then Boots N Wine is just the place.

Galveston County Fair and Rodeo will debut its wine room this year as a peaceful hideaway amid the excitement of the fair, said Albert Ramirez, commercial exhibit superintendent.

Ramirez said the idea for the wine room, set on the main fair road next to the Hospitality Room, came from visiting other fairs.

“It seemed like a hit at their locations,” he said. “It’s going to be a place to get away and relax.”

Rodeogoers — wine connoisseurs and novices alike — will be able to take a tour of Texas wine country with samples from Haak Winery, Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards, Messina Hof Winery and Fall Creek, among others.

Tickets for a taste are $2, glasses vary from $4 to $7, and bottles from $15 to $22. Light appetizers will also be available for purchase.

Marta S. Lastowska, a winemaker at Haak Vineyards & Winery, will host a seminar on winemaking and tasting in the wine room at 2 p.m. April 12.

Boots N Wine is open from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. today, 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. April 12.
