LEAGUE CITY — About a month after company officials apologized for delays in trash pick up, Republic Services on Monday asked the city to issue a warning that the today’s trash service would be delayed until about 9 p.m.

The company blamed a higher volume of trash that needed to be collected Monday for the delays, according to an alert sent by the city at about 2:45 p.m.

In March, Republic Services Regional Manager Steve Carroll publicly apologized for trash collection issues early in the month he said were weather related.

The company also had issues in communicating its problems to the city, catching city officials off guard.

Carrol admitted the company dropped the ball.

“It’s incumbent upon us to inform to the city on a timely basis,” Carroll said in his apology.

He said company officials had meetings with city staff to improve the communication.
