GALVESTON — Deadline for artists to reserve space in the upcoming 17th annual ARToberFEST is Friday.
ARToberFEST, presented by The Grand 1894 Opera House, is a juried fine-arts festival that will be held on Postoffice Street between 21st and 23rd streets — in the heart of the Galveston Downtown Cultural Arts District — Oct. 18-19.
Created in 1997 by Kathy Modzelewski, this premier art event has grown to now showcase the work of over 125 quality artists from Galveston, as well as throughout Texas and the United States. Both established and new artists will be represented. Media will include clay, drawings, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, pastels, paintings, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, watercolor and wood. Attendees can look forward to watching the artists at work during the festival.
Booth fees are $175. For more information and to reserve artist space, contact Sarah Piel, 409-770-5066, or visit www.artoberfest.com to download an application.
The Grand 1894 Opera House has added ARToberFEST as an annual part of The Grand’s cultural arts programming and educational outreach. Admission to the festival is $5 for adults; free for children 12 and younger. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Educational Programs of The Grand 1894 Opera House.
