TEXAS CITY — Police on Monday charged two men with theft of copper and criminal mischief.

Michael Burnette, 49, from League City, and Harry Gibbins, 31, from Huntsville, were taken into custody after police were called out to the 1500 block of Second Avenue North around 2:30 p.m. Monday, Police Chief Robert Burby said.

The two men matched the description of two suspicious individuals described by witnesses, Burby said.

Police allege officers found both men in possession of copper wiring that had been cut in the area, Burby said.

Burnette’s bonds totaled $25,000 while Gibbins’s bonds totaled $35,000.

Sorry excuses for a human being if they are guilty. If guilty, 25 years in jail for causing thousands of dollars in damage for $300 worth of copper. Jail time....25 years if found guilty. Send a message. Living the life of a thief does not pay.

Not too often I agree with Dotty, but this time - you're bulls eye!

I'm still burning about the loss of copper wiring in Highland Bayou Park.

Nasty thieves who would take what they know doesn't belong to them and harms others with the crime.

That's a residential area.
Too bad some homeowner wasn't in fear for their life...
