A Tiki Island man is in jail today accused of shooting another man at a bayside bar just north of Tiki Island.
Mark Anthony Martino, 56, was arrested late Monday evening, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and is being held on $60,000 bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies were called to the Tiki Bar and Grille in the 100 block of Interstate 45 about 11:15 p.m. While deputies were on the way, they were informed that a person had been shot.
Deputies found William Wimmer, 37, of Bayou Vista with a gun shot wound to his stomach.
Martino, who was at the bar, was arrested.
Wimmer was taken to John Sealy Hospital at the University of Texas Medical Branch where he underwent emergency surgery and is recovering.
The two men had been arguing during the evening and may have been involved in a long, ongoing disagreement, deputies said.
