BACLIFF — A woman was arrested on a felony charge after deputies accused her of passing out in her home while leaving her two young children in a car, authorities said Wednesday.
Bond for Jennifer L. Bautista, 33, of Bacliff was set at $10,000 on a second-degree felony charge of abandoning a child with intent to return, said Capt. Mike Benavides of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.
On Sept. 9, a deputy was called to investigate a possible child endangerment case in which two 1-year-old children were left unattended in a vehicle in the 4700 block of Third Street in Bacliff, Benavides said.
Deputies accused Bautista of leaving her children unattended in the automobile while she was passed out inside her home.
“Bautista’s friend located the children and cleaned them up prior to giving them to Bautista’s mother,” Benavides said.
The children didn’t require medical attention, Benavides said.
Deputies accused Bautista of going to her mother’s home and assaulting her later that afternoon.
Officials charged Bautista with assault causing family violence and held her on a $2,500 bond. A deputy then filed for a warrant to arrest Bautista on the child endangering charge, Benavides said.
Authorities served the warrant on Bautista on Tuesday at her residence, Benavides said. She was not listed as an inmate Wednesday afternoon, jail records state.
