SANTA FE — A former contractor who was convicted of felony theft in 2009 and ordered to pay more than $133,000 in restitution to the county residents he is accused of swindling was sentenced to 18 years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to new felony charges.

Jason Todd Miller, 39, of Santa Fe, also pleaded guilty to violating the conditions of his probation.

Miller was placed on probation in 2009 and ordered to pay 13 residents $133,847 in restitution for an alleged scheme that prosecutors said relied on his job as a contractor.

Prosecutors said Miller has failed to pay most of the ordered restitution and has since been charged with abusing a business’ credit card in Santa Fe and passing a series of fraudulent checks through a Dickinson business.

He pleaded guilty Monday to second degree felony theft, credit card abuse and theft of between $1,500 and $20,000.

Miller also has charges pending in Angelina, Harris and Brazoria counties, according to the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office.

This crime is equal to half of the sentence that was given to a man who murdered his own infant in act of unfathomable brutality.

The justice system in this country has snapped the last thin kite string that was holding it to Earth.

Anyone convicted of murdering a child should be taken out behind the court and shot in the head, then tossed in the trash as an appropriate final resting place.
No wasting taxpayer money to feed and house them - no 'let them reflect for the rest of their lives'. Just dead. Like the child.
imho

Stealing from people?
Kinda favor one full 24 hour day in the public stocks, ala old time Pilgrims, for each dollar value stolen. Which would be about 15 1/2 years, continuously, for this clown. THEN finish out the sentence, washing off the pigeon poop...
