TEXAS CITY — An 82-year-old woman died Wednesday, possibly from injuries suffered in a two-car collision, authorities said.
Authorities would not reveal the woman’s name until police could tell her relatives of her death.
Police were called at 1:53 p.m. to the 3100 block of Palmer Highway to investigate a T-bone crash involving two vehicles, Texas City police Capt. Brian Goetschius said.
After a preliminary investigation, police determined the collision happened when a man, 18, drove a 2003 Acura from a restaurant parking lot and turned east into the path of a westbound 1992 Toyota, Goetschius said.
The Toyota sustained frontal damage in the T-bone crash. The woman was the passenger in the Toyota, and she wore a seat belt, Goetschius said. Her son, 55, was the driver.
Officials dispatched a medical helicopter, but the woman was pronounced dead at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City. Her son was admitted, Goetschius said.
The teenager was treated and released from the hospital. No charges were filed, although the wreck remained under investigation Wednesday, Goetschius said.
