Hundreds of Houston Astros fans lined up Wednesday night at the Academy Sports + Outdoors in Galveston to buy World Series Champion shirts, hats, pennants and other merchandise to celebrate the team's 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. It is the first World Series Championship for the Astros in franchise history. Galveston County fans began lining up outside the sporting goods store in the fifth inning and hoped their efforts were not pointless. The Astros took the lead in the first two innings. Fans waited as the Dodgers put players on base, but left them stranded instead of scoring. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said a celebration parade will take place at 2 p.m. Friday beginning at Smith at Lamar streets in downtown Houston.
