League City Mayor Pat Hallisey suffered a heart attack Tuesday, two city council members said.

Hallisey was hospitalized at Bay Area Regional Medical Center on Tuesday and then transported by helicopter to a Houston hospital, Councilman Greg Gripon said.

Hallisey was absent from Tuesday’s city council meeting and was transported to Houston while the meeting was winding down.

Mayor pro tem Todd Kinsey made an announcement at the end of the council meeting about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday about Hallisey’s heart attack and asked that residents keep him in their thoughts and prayers.

No more details were available late Tuesday.
