A Conroe man was sentenced Thursday to six years deferred probation after being caught in an online sting aimed at child predators.

Epifanio Adolfo Jimenez, 38, pleaded guilty to a charge of online solicitation of a minor/sexual conduct as part of a plea agreement, Assistant District Attorney Anthony Smith said.

Galveston police arrested Jimenez in July when he entered the county to meet what he believed was a 13-year-old girl, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Jimenez will have to register as a sex offender for 10 years following the completion of his sentence, Smith said.

He faces between two to 20 years in prison if he violates his probation, Smith said.
