Update, 9:01 p.m.

The website has been restored.

Original Story

The website used by Galveston County to report election results to the public has become inaccessible, frustrating political observers trying to follow the latest information on Tuesday's election.

A portion of the website, galvestonvotes.org, went down around 8:15 p.m., and began asking visitors to provide a login and password to access the site.

Elections office officials said they were aware of the problem and were working to address it. They did not provide an immediate estimate on when the website would be fixed.
