A Webster man was arrested Saturday evening after attempting to escape from police by twice running across the highway.

He did not escape.

At about 9 p.m., Dickinson police officers were called to a report of a suspected intoxicated driver on the 2800 block of Interstate 45.

When they arrived, the officers found a car stopped with a flat tire and facing in the wrong direction on the southbound lane of the feeder road, police said.

As officers approached, a man ran across the highway to a business on the northbound side. As the officers searched for the man in a parking lot, he again ran across the highway, police said.

After an hour of searching, he was found hiding under a vehicle parked at a car dealership, police said.

Dresnner Brayner Xiloj-Herrera, 22, of Webster, was charged with one count of evading arrest and another count of resisting arrest. Both charges are misdemeanors. His bond was set at $5,000. He was in custody at the Galveston County Jail on Sunday morning.
