A fire destroyed a single-family home in Santa Fe on Saturday afternoon, displacing at least two people who lived there, officials said.

The fire occurred in the 14000 block of Gamble Road about 1:45 p.m., Santa Fe Fire Chief Tommy Anderson said.

A woman was inside the home when the fire erupted, but was able to get out of the building safely. The woman lived in the home with her daughter, Anderson said. The house was destroyed, he said.

Firefighters from Santa Fe, Hitchcock and Alvin responded to the fire, which was out by about 4 p.m., Anderson said.

The department called the Red Cross to help the displaced family, Anderson said.
