Judge Kerry Neves of the 10th District Court Tuesday ordered the bond reduced for a man facing charges after a major accident shut down part of Interstate 45 at FM 518 on June 17.
Jorge Gonzalez’s bond is now set at $310,000 on six counts of aggravated assault against a public servant and one count of evading arrest, court records show. His bond was initially set at $630,000.
Gonzalez is accused of driving his vehicle through the scene of an accident that shut down the interstate.
League City police shut down the car after an accident involving about three cars in the 400 block of the northbound side of the interstate, police said.
While police were working on the scene of the accident, a car allegedly driven by Gonzalez went through the blockade and struck one officer in the arm with the passenger window, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Another officer in a car had to quickly move his car out of the way and two other officers leapt out of the way of the car, according to the affidavit.
The car was traveling about 70 miles per hour, according to the affidavit.
After moving through the scene of the accident, the car led League City police on a chase that lasted about eight minutes and covered about 5.5 miles, according to the affidavit.
Police eventually stopped the car and arrested Gonzalez in the 17900 block of Kings Park Lane, Houston, according to the affidavit.
