Two men were arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping early Saturday morning after they were accused of attempting to force a woman into a van at a north county parking lot.

Deputies were called to Akumal Calle, a street in a mobile home neighborhood in an unincorporated part of Galveston County north of Dickinson, at about 3 a.m., Galveston County Sheriff's Office spokesman Maj. Douglas Hudson said.

A woman told deputies she had been walking to a relative's house to meet her boyfriend when a white van pulled up next to her and a man got out, Hudson said. The man struck the woman, and tried to force her into the vehicle, but she escaped and the truck drove off, Hudson said.

As deputies were interviewing the woman, a van matching the description she gave drove by, Hudson said. Deputies stopped the vehicle and arrested the men inside.

Sabino Olvera, 39, and Jose Rodriguez Reyna, 36, were both charged with aggravated kidnapping, a first degree felony. If convicted, the men face up to 99 years in prison.

Both men were denied bail, and were being held in the Galveston County jail on Saturday afternoon.
