A 37-year-old man was killed Saturday afternoon after he apparently tried to rob a father and his toddler son, who were in the drive-thru of McDonald’s at the intersection of FM 518 and state Highway 3 in League City, police said.

Witnesses told investigators a man walked up to a Ford F-150 pickup truck and pointed a handgun at the driver about 2:10 p.m., police said.

The driver, who is a concealed handgun license holder, pulled out his handgun and shot the man multiple times, striking him in the chest, police said.

The 37-year-old man, whose name had not been released, was taken to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, where he died, police said.

Neither the driver nor his 4-year-old son were injured during the shooting, police said. The mother picked up the boy, and the father was taken to the League City Police Department for questioning, police said. Detectives were still investigating the scene Saturday afternoon.

The case will be referred to a grand jury, police said.

I think the guy was in the right. Criminals in Texas need to understand that a lot of us carry handguns and if you mess with us illegally your going to get shot.

League City one of the Top 100 cities in Texas to live in. One of the highest per capita cities for concealed carry. Don't come here to commit a crime, everyone carries.

Why will it be referred to a grand jury? There is a zero chance of any indictment.
