A League City couple was charged with child endangerment Thursday after they were accused of using drugs in the same home where they were raising two young children, police said.
In June 2017, an anonymous caller reported that two 3-year-old children were in danger at a home with no food or air conditioning, according to a police complaint.
The caller told police two adults in the house were using methamphetamine, according to the complaint.
An investigator from Texas Child Protective Services visited the home and spoke to a woman, who said that she did drugs in another room of the residence away from both children, according to the complaint.
The children were removed form the home. They were both tested for drug exposure.
One of the children's test came back positive for cocaine and methamphetamine, according to the complaint.
Bradey Birdwell, 37, and Leslie Gay, 31, were both charged with endangering a child by criminal negligence Thursday. Both were held on bonds of $20,000, according to court documents. Both were still in custody at the Galveston County jail Saturday, according to jail records.
