A fight between a man’s current and former girlfriends ended with one of the women stabbing the other, police said.

Galveston County deputies were called to a home on Gordy Road in Bacliff on Saturday night to a report of disturbance, according to a probable cause affidavit.

A man there told deputies he had been out for drinks with his girlfriend of a couple weeks and had recently returned home, according to the affidavit.

On the way home, the man called his ex-girlfriend, told her he wanted to get back together and invited her over, according the affidavit.

The man said his current girlfriend would not be at the house when his ex arrived, according to the affidavit. He was wrong.

The two women got into a fight, during which the girlfriend stabbed the ex with a kitchen knife, according to the affidavit.

The ex suffered three cuts on her arm, and a small cut on her torso, according to the affidavit. At least one of the wounds required stitches, according to the affidavit.

Brittany Barger, 26, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Her bond was set at $40,000. She was in custody at the Galveston County jail Tuesday afternoon, according to jail records.
