Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday extended a state disaster declaration for counties affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The extension allows 60 counties and the cities within them to continue to receive aid from the state as they rebuild and recover from the August storm. Galveston County is one of the counties on the governor's list.

Abbott said he would continue to extend the disaster declaration as needed.

“The most important message I want to send to the victims of this storm is that they are not alone as they continue to recover from this storm,” Abbott said.
