Friendswood’s solid-waste management contractor early next month will stop picking up bagged construction and Hurricane Harvey-related debris, city staff said.

Houston-based Waste Connections of Texas will discontinue collecting storm-related debris March 4, and residents will have to find an alternative, officials said.

Residents will be responsible for removing construction and storm-related debris and renovation materials, city staff said. The change won’t apply to household garbage, and the company still will collect that regular refuse.

Residents can haul debris in their own vehicles to a landfill of their choosing, city staff said. Also, some contractors will work with residents.
