A Bacliff woman was jailed early Monday morning accused of throwing a knife at her 6-year-old child during a New Year’s Eve disturbance, law enforcement officials said.

Deputies were called to a house in the 4300 block of Ninth Street in Bacliff at about 1:30 a.m., Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset said.

Deputies found a woman who appeared highly intoxicated fighting with others, Trochesset said.

The deputies interviewed witnesses, including the woman’s 6-year-old child, who said the woman had thrown a knife at the boy, Trochesset said.

Marilyn Cruz, 35, of Bacliff, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Trochesset said. Her bond was set at $40,000.

She was still in custody on Monday afternoon, after her bond was denied because of an unserved bond condition and an emergency protective order placed against her, according to Galveston County Jail records.

The child was unharmed. Deputies contacted the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to care for the child, Trochesset said.

Wow terrible person...her wrath is she looks like she is in her 50s not 30s. Hope she doesn't get near that child again!

I hope there's someone in the family that can take this child in and protect as well.
