Heavy rain in Galveston County this morning has made some roads impassable.

In League City, several streets are impassable, including Bay Area Boulevard north of FM 518, Westover Park Avenue and the 2400 block of West Walker Street and the 2200 block of the Interstate 45 southbound feeder road, League City Police said.

The National Weather Service is forecasting that bad weather will continue throughout the morning.

A cluster of strong thunderstorms will bring periods of heavy rain, and flooding of feeder roads and other low areas will be possible, the weather service said.

The rain is expected to diminish later today, the weather service said.

Strong east winds will become southeast later today, but elevated tides will produce some minor coastal flooding and water could cover parts of Highway 87 and parts of FM 3005 at high tide later today, the weather service said.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible on Saturday, but widespread heavy rain is not expected, the weather service said.

A cold front will cross the area Sunday morning with another round of thunderstorms expected, the weather service said.

Some of the stronger storms could produce brief gusty winds and heavy rain.
