A Carrollton man was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after being accused of threatening another man with a gun, police said.
Police arrived in the 6400 block of O'Brien Street in Hitchcock, where witnesses told officers a group had gathered and one man had become loud and irate, according to an affidavit.
A scuffle ensued and ended when one of the combatants drew a gun, according to the affidavit.
"I was looking at the devil's face and he was spitting in my face, saying I will kill you," a witness told police, according to the affidavit.
Maurice Williams, 48, was arrested after police forced entry in a house where he was staying, according to the affidavit. Officers reported finding a loaded handgun in his pocket, according to the affidavit.
Williams was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was held on $100,000 bond and was still in custody Thursday at the Galveston County jail.
Carrollton is a small city northwest of Dallas.
