A Galveston man was arrested Friday and charged in connection with a January home invasion during which two men forced their way into a house and robbed its residents at gunpoint.

The robbery happened Jan. 11 at a house in the 3400 block of Avenue M. It was reported to police Jan. 15, according to an affidavit.

Two residents of the house told police that two men forced their way through the front door with handguns and demanded money, according to the affidavit. The men took a pair of Nike SB shoes and $40 before fleeing on foot, according to the affidavit.

The robbery was captured by a surveillance camera, according to the affidavit.

The video shows one of the residents of the house chasing one of the suspects away while hitting him with a belt, according to the affidavit.

A Galveston police detective identified one of the suspects in the video, according to the affidavit.

Police interviewed four residents of the house and provided them with a photo lineup that included the man identified by the detective, according to the affidavit. Three of the residents identified the same man, according to the affidavit.

Edgar Barrientos, 17, of Galveston, was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated robbery. His bond was set at $80,000, according to the affidavit. He was still in custody at the Galveston County Jail on Monday morning, according to jail records.
