Ball High School officials Thursday confiscated a non-operational gun from a student at the campus, officials said.

Officials received a report of a weapon on campus and quickly confiscated the item, Principal Joseph Pillar said.

The weapon was not operational and didn’t pose a threat to students, Pillar said.

“We recognize misinformation can spread quickly, which is why we wanted you to hear the facts directly from us,” Pillar said in a message to parents.

District officials could not share the status of the student, Pillar said.
