A 33-year-old woman died Sunday afternoon after falling from the third floor of an apartment building in the 500 block of 21st Street in Galveston, police said.

Police received a call about 1:20 p.m. that a woman had fallen from a window onto the awning of a business on the first floor of the building, said Capt. Joshua Schirard, spokesman for the Galveston Police Department.

Investigators Sunday were interviewing witnesses and examining the scene, Schirard said.

It wasn’t immediately apparent whether the woman had accidentally fallen, jumped or was pushed, Schirard said.
