A La Marque Elementary School student who had brought a toy gun to class has been disciplined, Texas City school district officials said Wednesday.

A second-grade student brought a toy gun to class Tuesday morning and pretended to shoot a boy, but no students were ever in danger, said Melissa Tortorici, spokeswoman for the district.

“We had authorities talk to the students and parents,” Tortorici said. “The school counselor also talked to students in the classroom.”

District officials said the student was disciplined to the extent allowed by law, but couldn’t elaborate on the details.
